"The Double Road Race® is the only running event with a halftime. Run 10K first, rest and relax for about an hour, then run 5K," says Bob Anderson, who created the new sport Double Road Racing.
Bob founded Runner's World magazine while he attended Shawnee Mission West High School in Overland Park, Kansas in 1966. He will be running his sixth Double of the year in Manhattan Nov 9th.
"I loved the Double," says Cindy.
"It was a very fun race. I plan to do it again," says Abel.
"Will I run it again?...In a heartbeat!" stated Tim.
"I loved every minute of it. This is a very unique event that I feel would be appealing to runners of all levels," said Tyson.
"Really enjoyed the recovery zone," stated Kevin.
The second Double in the state of Kansas in 2013, thus a perfect opportunity for Midwestern runners in particular to “get it right” if they didn’t do so in the first one, this Double takes place in the beautiful city of Manhattan, Kan., locally known as the Little Apple.
Surrounded by golden fields of wheat smack in the middle of a region known as America’s Breadbasket, Manhattan is a college town (Kansas State University), an historic city (it’s the ancestral home of the Canton and Poleska Native American tribes), and it’s also where Bob Anderson, creator of the Double, first started Runner’s World magazine (then called Distance Running News) in 1966 at the age of 17! Could there be a more appropriate and significant setting for a Double?
The answer is – No! And that’s why you should say, “Yes,” to being there – where you can run like the wind on the peaceful, flat roads of the Little Apple and journey back in time.
"If you are not ready to 'Do The Double,' run Ujena 5k and bring the kids for the Bob Anderson's Kids Cup Mile. All kids get a medal, and this all benefits youth running," says Double Road Race creator Bob Anderson.
Run For The Kids - 100 percent of all donations will be donated to non-profit youth running programs locally and nationally to benefit youth running.
